FAQs

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is also known as talk therapy. It is a type of treatment that involves talking with a trained mental health professional to address various mental health concerns, emotional challenges, and behavioral issues. Together, we will work on symptom relief, personal growth, behavioral change, and coping skills.

What is your approach to therapy?

I believe in empowering individuals to take control of their lives, making informed decisions, and developing self-awareness. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, validated, and supported. I focus on addressing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—to promote comprehensive well-being. I prioritize building a strong therapeutic relationship, fostering trust, and creating a collaborative environment.

What is your theoretical orientation?

I draw from various therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based therapies, and psychodynamic principles, to tailor my approach to each client’s unique needs. Additionally, I acknowledge the impact of trauma on individuals and incorporate trauma sensitive practice into my work.

What can I expect from our sessions?

We will begin our time together completing a comprehensive intake to get an understanding of the issue at hand, goals for therapy, demographic information, medical history, and consent for treatment.

During our sessions together, you will experience a safe and confidential environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. I will attentively listen to you while acknowldeging your emotions and concerns.

Together, we will establish goals and develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. I will employ evidence-based techniques and strategies to help you achieve your goals.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Email me at: OliviaRobertsLCSW@protonmail.com

What is your availability?

I typically see clients Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

I may have additional availability. Please e-mail to verify.

Do you offer free consultations?

While I do offer free 10 minute consultation, I find it best for clients to go ahead and book a full hour long session with me so we have time to process the issue at hand. If it is determined we are not a fit at that time, I am happy to help with referrals out!

Is everything that is discussed in therapy confidential?

Maintaining confidentiality is a crucial aspect of the therapeutic relationship. However, there are some exceptions and limitations to confidentiality. If, for instance, you indicate you are a harm to yourself or others, I am mandated to report.

What forms of payment do you accept?

American Express, Cash, Discover, Mastercard, Visa

Do you accept insurance?

I accept many forms of insurances including: BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, and United Health

How long are therapy sessions?

55 minutes is the typical session length I offer for individual therapy, allowing for in-depth exploration of issues and concerns.

How often do we meet?

The frequency of therapy sessions can vary depending on several factors, including your needs, goals, and circumstances. I typically meet with my clients once a week initially to ensure there is consistent progress and support. Once symptoms have improved, I will decrease our sessions to biweekly and then eventually to monthly sessions for occasional check-ins and maintenance. I am open to adjusting session frequency based on client needs and progress.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

If you need to cancel a session, please e-mail me at least 24 hours in advance. If you cancel less than 24 hours, you may be charged a cancellation fee of $100.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. We will meet through the Simple Practice portal (where you complete your consents) for our virtual session. Please note, I can only meet with clients who are in NC or SC at time of our session due to license restrictions.
